IMPROV 315: THE ACTORS IMPROV
An improv teacher once told me that acting and improvising are worlds apart. The approach is different. The outcomes are different. Well, I guess that makes complete sense. Improv comedy training and trainers tend to push you into "the spectacle that is you".
Let's look at a few comedy styles. Improvisational comedy is showy. Sketch comedy is wacky. Situational comedy is winky. Theatrical comedy is hammy. I like to take this improv class deeper into reality. Students will be asked to create truly authentic characters, challenged by everyday life.
You will not pander. You will not fall into stereotypes. You will not succumb to showy, wacky, winky, or hammy. The audiences is smarter than that. They deserve more.
Prerequisite: IMPROV 101 and 201, 8 week course.
THIS IS A TWO HOUR ADVANCED CLASS, OPEN TO A MAXIMUM OF 5 PEOPLE.
This class will end with a run of shows featured with IMPACT THEATER. Unplanned Comedy's featured real-prov team.
